2026 Purchase College Alumni Weekend

The Purple Carpet Weekend

Purchase College, SUNY
Alumni Weekend

Guests entered the Neuberger Museum of Art on a purple carpet, surrounded by paparazzi-style photographers and the sounds of live music spilling through the doors — transforming the arrival moment for Alumni Weekend 2026 into something that felt closer to an opening-night soirée than a traditional campus reunion.

In its tenth year working with the Purchase College Office of Alumni Engagement and the Purchase College Alumni Association, The TAGS Group reimagined the annual gathering as an immersive celebration of creativity, performance, nostalgia, and reconnection — while also honoring the 50th anniversary reunion of the Class of 1976, the College’s first four-year graduating class.

Throughout the weekend, alumni moved between gallery spaces, performances, showcases, campus tours, cocktail receptions, and an awards luncheon celebrating distinguished alumni, faculty, and community members whose work reflected the creative and intellectual spirit of Purchase itself.

Across generations, former classmates, artists, performers, and faculty reconnected inside the same creative environment that first brought them together — now re-experienced through music, nightlife energy, storytelling, and shared memory.

The weekend concluded beneath Stephen Antonakos’s monumental neon sculpture installation Proscenium, where members of the Class of 1976 raised neon-ringed champagne flutes in a toast to their legacy and enjoyed a celebratory reunion dinner surrounded by color, light, and memory.

The result felt less like a traditional alumni event and more like temporarily stepping back inside the artistic energy, experimentation, and creative freedom that made Purchase unforgettable in the first place.

Because some places never fully leave the people who passed through them.
